Missing in Singapore David Stanley Waite was the son of Harold & Margaret Waite of 22 Woodlands Way, West Wickham.   He married Margaret Greenhalgh in Bromley in 1934. Missing Lieutenant S.J. Masters, Chislehurst Mr and Mrs C. Masters, of Ridgemount, Leesons, Chislehurst, have been informed by the War Office that their son, Lieutenant Stephen J. Masters, The Suffolk Regiment, was serving in Malaya up to the date when Singapore capitulated, and is posted as missing until some definite information is received.  It is hoped that he may be a prisoner of war. Corproal Bellringer Councillor’s Son Missing at Singapore Corporal Arthur Bellringer R.A.S.C.. second son of Councillor Mrs Bellringer, of West Wickham, is officially reported missing at Singapore.  The official intimation, however, gives some ground for hoping that he is a prisoner of war. Missing Acting Leading Seaman W. J. Bennett  Acting Leading-Seaman W.J. Bennett, who has been posted missing, is the son of Mr and Mrs Bennett, 41 Gundolph Road, Bromley. He joined the Royal Navy after leaving the Royal Naval School, Greenwich, and was at Singapore when the Japanese captured that place.  Every endeavour is being made to ascertain what has happened to him and others left behind at Singapore. Gunner Horace Charles Baldwin

One fears for the prisoners taken by the Japanese. Gunner Baldwin was being held in Batavia (Jakarta, Indonesia). Gunner Baldwas was the son of of Henry Charles and Martha Baldwin and grew up in Farnborough, Kent.  He was married to Winifred Elizabeth Maria (nee Carter) and had one son, Colin.  Sadly Horace did not survive the war.  He was a prioner of war onboard the Tamahoko Maru when it sank  on the 24th June 1944.  He was 31 years old. Prisoners of War Private E. Brooker News has been received that Private E. Brooker of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, son of the late Mr James Brooker and Mrs Brooker, of 19 Chatterton Road, Bromley, is a prisoner of ward in Japanese hands at Camp Malai. Private E.
