This wonderful article, published in the local newspaper, shows that even business rivals were determined to carry on no matter what the enemy throw at them during the severe bombing of England in World War 2.
It is this spirit of determination to carry on that Hitler will never defeat.
Good Will Among Rivals
Sir Waldron Smithers, Member for the Chislehurst Division, writes to The Times :
Sir – I have received a letter from a young Naval officer from which I send you an extract :-
“My father had had a bitter blow. During the heavy raid on _____ the night before last his (a big factory business concern) received a direct hit, and his plant was destroyed, but thanks to the spirit of good will among others in the trade, the neighbouring factories are making the extra supplies necessary to keep his business going, And now, within 24 hours of the damage occurring, one of those who were his rivals has offered him a complete new factory in ____. It is this spirit of determination to carry on that Hitler will never defeat.”
