(ii) Leaving Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

(iii) Submitting Your Own Story
When submitting your own personal stories and memories via our ‘user submitted post’ form, we will be provided with your name and email address. We will use this data to ensure you are properly cited as the author of the story and so we can contact you should be have any questions. We will not pass your details onto any third parties, without prior consent from you. You also agree for us to publish your story onto our website, share elements of it via social media and add to our Military Ancestors database.

Right to be forgotten
You have the right to request details of the data we hold on you. We will endeavour to provide this information as soon as possible (within 30 days). You also have the right ‘to be forgotten’ so you can request for all data we hold on you to be deleted completely.
